Correct installation is as important as choosing the right net. A poorly installed bird net fails within months — a correctly installed Russea™ Grade A HDPE net lasts 8–10 years. Here's the complete installation guide.
Tools Required
- SS hook-eye bolts (6mm) or expansion anchors
- Stainless steel wire rope (3–4mm) or UV nylon cord for perimeter border
- Crimping tool + aluminium crimp sleeves (for SS wire)
- Wire tensioner / turnbuckles (for larger spans)
- Zip ties or net clips (UV-stabilised PP or SS)
Balcony Installation (Standard)
- Mark anchor points every 90–120cm around balcony perimeter
- Drill and fix SS expansion anchors or hook-eye bolts into concrete/masonry
- Thread 3mm SS wire rope or 6mm nylon cord through all anchors to form perimeter border
- Tension and secure with turnbuckle or knot
- Attach cut net section to border rope using SS zip ties or net clips every 30cm
- Check for gaps > 5cm — pigeons can squeeze through openings larger than their head
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using plastic (PVC) anchor hardware: Fails in 1–2 years. Always use stainless steel hardware.
- Under-tensioning the border rope: Creates sag that birds exploit
- Gaps at corners: The most common entry point — use extra ties at corners
- Wrong mesh size: 50mm mesh for balcony doesn't stop pigeons — use 25mm or smaller
